How to combine PDFs on iPhone or Android
To combine PDFs on a phone, open Merge PDF in Safari or Chrome, choose the files, put them in order and tap Merge PDFs →. You do not need an app or an account, and the files are combined in your browser rather than uploaded. The steps below cover where to save the PDFs first and where to find the merged file afterwards.
Before you start: save the PDFs to your phone
A browser picks files from your phone’s storage, not straight from an email or chat, so save each PDF first.
- iPhone or iPad: in the Mail app, touch and hold the attachment, then choose Save to Files. Saving them all to one folder makes the next step easier.
- Android: files you download in Chrome go to your default download location, which you can open from the Files app.
If one of your documents is a photo of a page, turn it into a PDF first with Images to PDF. It accepts JPG, PNG and WebP. HEIC photos are not supported, so export a JPG copy first.
Step by step: merge PDFs in Safari or Chrome
- Open pdfreadygo.com/merge-pdf in Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android.
- Tap Choose PDF files. Your phone’s file picker opens.
- Go to the folder where you saved the PDFs and select two or more of them.
- To add more, tap Choose PDF files again. New files are added to the end of the list.
- Check the order. Tap ↑ or ↓ next to a file name to move it. The top file becomes the first pages of the result.
- Tap × next to any file you picked by mistake.
- Tap Merge PDFs →. When it finishes you will see “Your file is ready.” and a summary such as “6 pages combined.”
- Tap Download result ↓. The file is named pdfreadygo-merge.pdf.
We ran these steps on the live tool on October 29, 2026, in a browser set to an iPhone-sized screen, with three test PDFs of 1, 2 and 3 pages. After moving the first file down one place, the merged PDF had 6 pages in exactly the order shown in the list, and the pages inside each file kept their original order.
Where to find the merged file
iPhone: in Safari, tap the Downloads button next to the search field to see the file. Later, open the Files app, tap Browse, then Downloads (it may be inside iCloud Drive). Safari can save downloads to iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, depending on your Safari download setting.
Android: in Chrome, open the menu and tap Downloads. From there you can open, share or rename the file.
Give the file a clear name before you send it, such as “Smith-rental-application.pdf”. It is easier for the recipient to find than a generic name.
Limits worth knowing
- Each file can be up to 30 MB, the total up to 100 MB, and you can select up to 25 files at once.
- A merged document can contain up to 1,000 pages.
- Page content and page sizes are kept. Bookmarks, digital signatures, attachments inside the PDF and fillable form fields may not carry over, so fill in and sign forms after merging, and keep the originals.
What if it does not work?
- “Select at least two PDFs to merge.” Only one file is in the list. Tap Choose PDF files and add another.
- “This PDF is password-protected.” The tools cannot open protected files. If you have permission, save a copy without the password from the app you normally use, then merge that copy.
- “Each file must be 30 MB or smaller.” Shrink the large file first with Compress PDF, or take out the pages you need with Split PDF.
- You cannot pick a photo. Merge PDF accepts PDF files only. Convert photos with Images to PDF first.
- The merge stalls on a big job. Phones have less memory than computers. Close other tabs and try again, or merge in two smaller batches and then merge the two results.
Because the merge happens in your browser, your files are not sent to our servers. See how privacy works and the FAQ for details.
After merging
Open the merged PDF and scroll through every page before you send it. It takes a few seconds and catches the most common mistake: files in the wrong order.
- Too big to email? Run it through Compress PDF, and see how to reduce a PDF’s size for email for which setting to pick.
- A page in the wrong place or sideways? Organize PDF moves, removes or turns single pages, and Rotate PDF turns every page or a page range at once.
- Need only part of it? Split PDF extracts the pages you choose. Merge or split? Choose the right PDF tool explains the difference.
